Even though our puppies might not be vaccinated yet that doesn't mean we can't start training. This class is all about building a relationship with your puppy. Relationship is everything when developing puppies into stable dogs. In this class we will learn how to effectively communicate with our dog through games and how to accurately asses how our dog is feeling. We will also socialize our puppies around other dogs and obstacles.
AKC star puppy is a certificate you can get for your puppy. It covers things similar to the CGC (Canine Good Citizen), but is tailored more to the development of your dog opposed to formal training.
This is a class for our older puppies, generally 6-15 months old, the teenage portion of our dogs life. In this class we will begin more structured obedience, as well as troubleshooting any teenage shenanigans. (dogs up to a year can get star puppy)
Ideally, we want our dogs to go through puppy courses to take this class, but if that haven’t that’s ok! This class is faster paced than puppy class and does not cover all the games we play. There is a focus on engagement, problem solving skills, reading body language and obedience. This class is for dogs over 15 months.
OB1 is a prerequisite for this class. You may also be evaluated by the trainer to qualify. This class does not cover engagement, as the assumption is you already have that with your dog. In this class we may work more off leash, i.e. flexi leashes and long lines. This class is more tailored to AKC obedience and gaining off leash privilege with your dog. We will cover more advanced skills like playing tug, using one command, sending your dog away from you. Only one dog may be worked at a time. Class is for dogs over 15 months.
Our end goal is for your dog to be able to pass the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) exam .
This class is all about fun! Each week we will learn a new trick, or work off of a trick we have already started. Training does not have to be serious.
Tricks are a great way to engage with your dog. They are fun and teach us how to communicate with our pets. In trick dog training, I have a huge emphasis on markers. Marker words tell our dog what they did correctly, essentially taking a picture of what we liked so that we may recreate it.
If you are AKC registered, you can earn titles for your pup. Unlike other group classes, this class is a drop in class. It does not follow a 6 week ciriculum
Each class can have 6 dogs maximum. You must pay prior to the class in order to secure your spot
